Injury/Illness Match Default Rules

Illness and self-inflicted injury rules:

** At the time the first match of a tournament begins, the tournament for all players has officially begun and the following rules shall apply to all players.

1.  If a player becomes ill or is self-injured before or during a match and is unable play the match/continue to play the match, the match is recorded as a loss for the ill/injured player and will be included in Squash Alberta Rankings. Subsequent matches in the tournament will be considered byes and will not be included in Squash Alberta Rankings if the player in question is not able to recover and play their next scheduled match.

2.  If a player is self-injured or becomes ill during a match and chooses to finish the match, the next match for the player in question is a valid ranking match. In this situation, if the player in question decides not to play their next match, the match will count as a loss against the player in question and will count for Squash Alberta Rankings.

Any subsequent matches in the tournament will be considered byes and will not be included in Squash Alberta Rankings

In the event the player in question recovers and decides to play subsequent matches after defaulting a match- (if the tournament allows for it), the subsequent matches will count towards Squash Alberta Rankings.

 Extenuating Circumstances:

In the event of an unforeseen situation/extenuating circumstances contributing to the defaulted match, the player in question must put in writing, to the Squash Alberta office, their situation, by 5pm on the 5th business day following the final day of the event. A committee of three will be set up to review the submission and the committee’s decision will be final.

If the committee accepts the submission, the match will not count as a loss.

If the committee rejects the submission, the match will stand and count towards Squash Alberta rankings.
