Feb. 23, 2026
2026 Junior Provincial Championships, Royal Glenora Feb 20-21, 2026
What a great weekend of Squash Feb 20-21, 2026 was!
A big thank you to the Royal Glenora club in Edmonton for opening its doors to Squash Alberta, 85 junior athletes and their families.
To Ross and Rebecca, RG Squash Professionals, for helping us get organized and stay on top of proceedings well before the first matches started and through until the last match ball was played.
We were treated to some wonderful displays of sportsmanship and squash across age groups ranging from 7 to 18 years old. These kids can play!
The U9 Companion Division was a welcome addition to the main event, demonstrating how much fun your first big rally can be without worrying about winning or losing it. Nothing better than to see two players with huge smiles on their faces after a massive rally featuring great shots, miss hits, incredible gets, dives, you name it - amazing stuff!
A special thank you to our courageous officials who braved the hot seat behind the back glass to ensure fair outcomes for our athletes, never a straight forward task by any means. Chris Doyle, Gwynne Bykowski, Aaron Overing and John de Vries as well as numerous parents and players who stepped up to keep matches flowing smoothly during the event.
Congratulations to all the athletes who braved the courts during the 2026 Provincial Junior Championships. It is never an easy trick to put it all on the line while trying to manage your nerves and play your best. You should all be very proud of your efforts and how well you conducted yourselves, even when things did not go the way you wanted them to. Life is a big thing and is much more than wins and loses on a court or playing field. At the end of the day, you will be remembered more for how you played and conducted yourself, than for wins and losses.
